Albertson Motor Sports History

– Robert Began his racing career at Winterport Dragway racing a 1982 Dodge Omni with a 355 Cubic Inch Small Block. He won his first ever race and finished top ten in points his first year at the age of 15.

– Robert Stepped up to the electronics class in bracket racing, making passes at tracks all over new England. His new ride was a 1985 Ford Mustang with another small block Chevy for power. This was also a top ten points finish for Robert.

– Albertson Motor Sports made the switch to Alcohol Power with a new Hillborn Injected Small Block… Elapsed times bumped into the mid 9 second range while winning several races and competing yet another top ten season.

– This was the fist year of Nostalgia racing for the team. Robert began campaigning a new 1948 Fiat Altered with a Small Block on Alcohol. This car was built by NBC racing in Winterport Maine and ran consistent 8 second ET’s…. This was a great season for Robert as he ran 9 full races, made 8 finals and won 5… The season was however cut short due to Robert attending college at Maine Maritime Academy.

- Was another partial season running the same 1948 Fiat, not following points, but traveling around the north east and Canada making a name for himself. It proved to be another great season.

– Robert took a bit of time off from Nostalgia Alcohol Racing by running a 7 Second Rear Engine Dragster. Running a very limited schedule, he always made his presence felt no matter where he ran.

– This was another season with the Rear Engine Dragster, Robert won a few races but then became tired of the same old some old that the dragster was providing... It was time for a change.

– Robert decided to try his hand at Top Sportsman with a Rundall Chassis SVO Mustang running an Alcohol 540 cubic inch Merlin for power. The car ran consistent low 8’s at over 160 miles per hour.

– Obligations or racing RMR Snocross and MMS Motorcross made this a season with no drag racing… Robert and his two brothers Jonathan and Jason both races Motocross throughout Maine. This time was also used to develop a new practice facility for motorcross in Madison Maine.

– Robert and Jonathan were both racing RMR Snocross when part way through the season, Robert was injured at the track and felt the need to no longer run the snowmobiles. They continued to run Motocross throughout Maine.

– Robert was soon feeling the itch to get back into racing cars. He purchased a Porsche 911 Turbo Road Race Car and ran that for a while in 2006 when he decided he just couldn’t stay away from the drag racing… Outlaw 10.5 was calling!

– Robert Campaigned a 1993 Ford Mustang with a 1600 Horsepower All Aluminum Small Block Ford for power. This ride ran in the high 7’s at 170 miles per hour on DOT Street Tires and through the mufflers. After running this combination for a while, Albertson Motor Sports decided to go back into the Nostalgia Scene with the wildest ride yet… A blown alcohol 62 Chevy Nova!!!!

- This was an interesting year for the Albertson Motor Sports Team... Starting out strong, the Nova squashed the Door Car track record at Winterport Dragway only to have an extreme engine failure end the season early. The record was beaten during the last race of the year, but we are positive the record will be back in our hands in 2009. Jonathan was at his best in the Diesel Truck Pulls having some very strong finishes, and also won a Dyno Competition with his GT 500.

-
